As Trump marks the first 100 days of his second White House term, a Population Connection Action Fund survey reveals that US voters overwhelmingly oppose the Trump administration’s devastating cuts to international family planning funding.
By a margin of 58-33, voters support restoring the global family planning funding that Elon Musk and Donald Trump have blocked.
Population Connection Action Fund Senior Vice President for Political and Government Affairs, Brian Dixon, says,
“Donald Trump’s and Elon Musk’s obliteration of US-funded reproductive health services in developing countries is causing preventable suffering and undermining decades of global progress in improving health, decreasing poverty and expanding economic opportunity. Our polling makes it clear that solid majorities of voters recognize the importance of US aid for international family planning, and want its reinstatement.”
On behalf of Population Connection Action Fund, renowned polling firm Lake Research Partners conducted a mixed-mode phone and online survey of 1,200 registered voters across the United States from April 2-7, 2025.
“During the original 90-day freeze, since extended by another 30 days, 11.7 million women lost access to contraceptives and other essential family planning care. This denial of care will result in 4.2 million unintended pregnancies and 8,340 deaths from pregnancy and childbirth complications,” Dixon added.
When asked whether they agree or disagree with the statement that “US investment in family planning and reproductive health programs around the world has improved global health, increased education and economic opportunities for girls and women, decreased poverty, and helped build more stable and secure communities and countries,” 58% of voters voiced their agreement, with only 28% disagreeing.
